Te Uru Rākau

Nestled within the redwoods of Rotorua’s Whakarewarewa Forest, this project for two government departments exhibits a wide variety of different timber uses, from Glulam timber structure to heat-treated external cladding and screening. This project delivers on the specific needs of each of the two agencies it houses, as well as providing common areas for arrivals, meetings and breaks during the day. Careful building alignment and positioning of courtyards capture natural light throughout the day, creating healthy and enjoyable spaces to work within.
